Introduction

The Master of Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning) provides an opportunity for advanced study in the field of Strength and Conditioning. The three semester full time (or equivalent part time) degree is designed for the student that has already completed a Bachelor degree in Sports Science or a related area, but wishes to enhance their training in the specific field of Strength and Conditioning. Exit options exist for students who have completed three units (postgraduate certificate), six units (postgraduate diploma) or nine units for masters.

The degree is offered entirely on-line over the Internet and is designed specifically for the Strength and Conditioning specialist who is already working in the field and wishes to add to their qualifications. The degree also provides an excellent theoretical and practical grounding for students with an appropriate undergraduate degree who wish to get into Strength and Conditioning. We use the latest Internet technology to deliver an outstanding learning environment for students to study off campus. Try these samples of our on-line teaching.

Admission Requirements

Students must have successfully completed a Bachelor degree in Sports Science, Human Movement, Physical Education or a program of study of a similar nature. In particular an undergraduate background in human anatomy and physiology is required.

Course Location and Mode of Study

The course is available part-time or full-time, and is available in on-line external mode only.

There are three units per semester that are worth 20 credit points each.

SPS4101 Strength and Conditioning 1 – Physiology
SPS4102 Strength and Conditioning 2 – Biomechanics
SPS4105 Advanced Resistance Training

SPS4108 Physiological Testing of Human Performance
SPS4110 Applied Biomechanics in Strength and Conditioning
SPS4100 Strength and Conditioning – Practicum

SPS5113 Research and Computer Methods in Strength and Conditioning
SPS5116 Injury prevention and rehabilitation

SPS5119 Current Issues in Strength and Conditioning

Degrees Offered

60 credit points– Postgraduate Certificate in Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning)
120 credit points– Postgraduate Diploma in Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning)
180 credit points– Masters of Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning)

Two Week Residential Studying in Perth

A major emphasis of the Masters of Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning) degree is the development of practical skills. To achieve this aim the course requires completion of a two week residential-based stay at the Joondalup campus in Perth, Western Australia. During this time students will be exposed to some of the world's most sophisticated equipment and up-to-date information currently available in the Strength and Conditioning field. Hands on experience, development of practical skills and networking with other Strength and Conditioning specialists are a highlight of this intensive course.
